Part of the 1924 British Mount Everest expedition, Mallory and Irvine disappeared on Everest's Northeast Ridge, they were last seen alive approximately 240 metres vertically from the summit. Mallory's body was found in 1999 and Irvine's partial remains were found 2024.

The massive Soviet offensive that destroyed German Army Group Centre in 1944, Operation Bagration, was named after him.

Henry V became King of England in 1413 and ruled until his death in 1422. Defeating the French at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, he then displayed his military prowess with further victories. In 1420 the Treaty of Troyes was signed, which officially appointed Henry and his descendents as heirs to the French throne.

The religion of Ancient Egypt lasted for more than 3,000 years, and was polytheistic, meaning there were a multitude of deities, who were believed to reside within and control the forces of nature. The last evidence we have of ancient Egyptian religion comes from 6th-century historian Procopius, who records that the temples in Philae were officially closed down in 537 CE in accordance with an order of Byzantine emperor Justinian I.

Formed to advance justice for African Americans by a group including W. E. B. Du Bois, Mary White Ovington, Moorfield Storey, Ida B. Wells, Lillian Wald, and Henry Moskowitz. It was created in the wake of the 1908 Springfield, Illinois race riot, one in a series of mass violent attacks on African Americans over the preceding decades.

The Young British Artists were a group of British artists who begin to exhibit together in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They included Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Gary Hume and Sarah Lucas. Their works were very controversial and used innovative materials.
