Soren Brooks
Soren is a historian with a particular interest in women and LGBTQ+ people throughout history. She has written about topics ranging from Dahomey’s fearsome female fighting force to Charles Ponzi and his money making scheme.
Erin Devanadera
Erin became interested in history after reading Revelations of Divine Love by Julian of Norwich, which ignited her passion to delve deeper into the writings of medieval Christian mystics and medieval history, which then became a general passion for history. She is currently majoring in anthropology, and is particularly interested in indigenous histories from around the globe. Erin has written many History Guild Quiz questions.
Morgan W.R. Dunn
Historian and writer who studied art history at Goldsmiths, University of London, Morgan writes on topics as varied as the Origin of the commons in Britain to China’s German trained pre WWII army. He has strong research skills, and has a knack for ferreting out the most interesting aspects of a story.
Matias Lee
Matias is an officer in the Singapore Army with a longstanding passion for history. His interest began at the age of ten through the online game World of Tanks, which sparked his curiosity about the development and historical context of his favourite vehicles. That initial fascination quickly drew him deeper into the broader world of history, and he soon fell headfirst into its rabbit hole. Today, he hopes to inspire others to have the same passion for history as he does. Matias has written many History Guild Quiz questions.
Ross Manuel
Ross puts together the excellent I Was Only Doing My Job: Australian Military History podcast. This podcast series tells the stories of Australia’s Military History through the individual stories of those who served; where they grew up, what they did, and invariably what happened to them. Ross is working with History Guild to ensure these stories reach a wide audience. You can listen to a great example about Captain Hector Waller here.
Robbie McGuire
Creator of the fantastic RM Military History video channel, Robbie has created videos for several History Guild projects, including this excellent video detailing the Australian contribution to the defence of Malta during the Second World War. You can follow Robbie on Twitter here.
Mark McKenzie
A passionate history researcher and writer with a History and Ancient History degree from the University of Exeter, Mark writes on a wide range of Historical topics, from the history of West Papua to how how Sweden managed to stay neutral for 200 years.
Brandon Mifsud
Brandon is a marketing and history student at Monash University with a deep passion for ensuring that history is accessible and informative for everyone.
Alex Moffat
Alex is a current student at RMIT University. He has always had an avid interest in learning about the past and how the it has, or potentially can, change the future. His interest in history was sparked at a young age – hearing stories about his mother’s life during the Vietnam war and how it shaped her own future here in Australia. He has found being a part of History Guild a rewarding experience and he strongly believes in the organisation’s goal of historical literacy for all.
Stewart Mortimer
Stewart is the creator of the very informative Premier History video channel. He has created videos for several History Guild projects, including this great video about Operation Exporter, when the Australians fought the French in Syria.
Madison Moulton
Madison Moulton is a freelance writer and editor with a degree in History and Political Science. While appreciating all things historical, her interests are centered around African history and historiography. Find out more or get in touch at madisonmoulton.com.
Warwick O’Neill
Warwick creates the fantastic Australian Military History podcast, and has contributed to History Guild projects across a range of different military history topics. A great example is this podcast episode exploring the 9th Australian Division attacking Ruin Ridge during the First Battle of El Alamein.
Fergus O’Sullivan
Fergus O’Sullivan is a freelance journalist and writer with a life-long obsession with history, fueled by the gift of a historical atlas at age seven. He spent nights awake poring over the thing, and the choice to study for a BA in history was pretty much made then. At university, Fergus studied all manner of times and places, but specialized in genocide studies and the history of the Near and Middle East. He now contributes to The History Guild not only to indulge his own fascination with times and events past, but also hopefully kindle the flame in others. David Phillipson
Co-founder and President of History Guild, David is interested in a wide range of aspects history, but Australian military history is his strongest area. He manages the History Guild website and compiles the History Guild Weekly Quiz.
Cristina Santa-Isabel
Cristina’s interest in history began at university when she was studying Latin American history. Her special areas of interest are pre-Colombus Latin American history and pre-20th century Latin American history. Cristina sees History Guild as a great resource for people to read about many different historical topics. She also appreciates the diversity of views, which allows the reader to see a variety of perspectives on historical events. She looks forward to continuing to volunteer for what she describes as an excellent cause.
Shubhangee Singh
Shubhangee is completing an MBA at Deakin University. She loves reading books, listening to historical podcasts, writing and gaining a better understanding of each of the cultures of the world. Her core belief is ‘our past influences our present’ and as a result she sees history as being very important. She volunteers for History Guild because she is captivated by the stories from history and wants to use her social media marketing skills to ensure other people have this same experience. She enjoys being a part of what is in her words ‘History Guild’s beautiful volunteering family’. Shubhangee is looking forward to helping enthral history enthusiasts for a long time to come.
Rohit M Sharma
Rohit is a writer and researcher based in India with a deep interest in global history — from ancient maritime cultures and classical civilizations to colonial upheavals, trade routes, and political revolutions. He is especially drawn to cultural exchanges, social movements, and the silenced voices that have shaped the world. With experience in educational content, scriptwriting, and digital storytelling, Rohit aims to bring history to life in ways that are human, immediate, and accessible. Rohit has written many History Guild Quiz questions.
Michael Vecchio
Michael Vecchio is a critic and essayist based in Canada; a graduate of the University of Alberta, he is a lifelong follower of historical, political, and current affairs, and all the happenings in the world of cinema. Follow him on Twitter @maestromichael2.
Angus Wallace
Creator of the fantastic WW2 Podcast, Angus has contributed podcast episodes on many topics, including this episode which examines the campaign in the Pacific and particularly the war in New Guinea through the eyes of the Japanese soldiers, sailors and airmen who fought in it.
David Waye
Now retired, David has had a keen interest in history since he was at primary school, focusing on modern history, specifically military and political. His first, and still enduring, passion was the North African Campaign of the Second World War; another longtime time interest has been the events and circumstances surrounding the assassination of President Kennedy. His broader military interests include Australian involvement in both World Wars. David has a BA in politics and international affairs.
