In 1931 Post and Australian navigator Harold Gatty flew around the world, in the record time of 8 days, 15 hours, 51 minutes, in the first successful aerial circumnavigation by a single-engined monoplane. In 1933 Post repeated his flight around the world, this time using an autopilot to assist him, becoming the first to accomplish the feat alone, in the faster time of 7 days, 18 hours, 49 minutes.
